Heater maintenance in Los Angeles — what we actually check

Los Angeles winters are mild but not trivial — and a heating system that sat idle all summer needs a real inspection before you need it. HVAC in LA performs a comprehensive furnace and heat pump tune-up that goes well beyond a filter swap.

The most dangerous thing to skip: heat exchanger inspection. A cracked exchanger can allow carbon monoxide into living space with zero visible warning signs. We check it every time.

What's covered in a heater tune-up

  • Heat exchanger inspection — critical carbon monoxide safety check
  • Burner cleaning and flame inspection — proper combustion, correct color
  • Ignitor and flame sensor test — prevents no-heat calls on cold nights
  • Gas pressure verification — confirm correct manifold pressure
  • Flue and venting inspection — confirm proper exhaust draft
  • Blower motor and belt check — airflow, amp draw, lubrication
  • Filter inspection — replace or note for homeowner action
  • Thermostat test and calibration — confirm accurate temperature control
How it works

Our Heater Maintenance process

What to expect from first call to final commissioning.

October–November is ideal. We offer evening and weekend slots for working households.

2

Full system inspection

Covers all combustion, airflow, safety and control components. Typically 45–60 minutes.

3

Safety-first report

Any safety issues (cracked heat exchanger, CO risk) are flagged immediately. Non-urgent items are documented for your records.

4

Tune and clean

Burners cleaned, drain flushed, airflow confirmed. System ready for the heating season.

Heater Maintenance FAQs

When should I schedule a heater tune-up in LA?
October or early November, before you need the heat. Scheduling is easiest in September — wait until December and you may be on a 2-week wait.
Does a tune-up cover both heating and cooling?
A heater tune-up focuses on the furnace/heat pump heating components. Our combo maintenance visit covers both systems and is discounted versus two separate visits.
How do I know if my heat exchanger is cracked?
Usually you don't — that's why we check it. Symptoms can include soot, unusual smells, or headaches, but many cracked exchangers show no obvious signs. A CO detector is essential in any gas-heated home.
What heater brands do you service?
All major brands: Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Ruud, Goodman, York, Bryant, American Standard, Day & Night and others.
