Ductless mini-split installation in Los Angeles

Half of LA's housing stock is older than central AC. Spanish bungalows, Craftsmen, 1920s duplexes, and modern ADUs all share one problem: no ductwork, no efficient way to run conventional HVAC. Mini-splits solve it.

A ductless system is a heat pump that uses small refrigerant lines (not ducts) to deliver conditioned air directly into each room. One outdoor condenser can run 1–8 indoor units, each with independent thermostat control. They're quiet, energy-efficient, and don't require tearing into your walls or ceiling to install.

Best fits for ductless mini-splits

  • Older homes without ducts — bungalows, Spanish-style, Craftsman, historic
  • ADUs and garage conversions — full HVAC without permits to extend ducts
  • Home additions — your existing system can't keep up
  • Hot/cold rooms — that one room that's always uncomfortable
  • Multi-story homes — different temperatures on different floors
  • Home offices & primary bedrooms — comfort exactly where you need it

Mini-Split FAQs

How efficient are mini-splits?
Very. Modern inverter mini-splits achieve 18–30 SEER2 — among the most efficient HVAC systems available. Combined with zoned control (only heating/cooling the rooms you're in), most homeowners see 30–50% energy savings vs central AC + furnace.
Will the indoor heads look ugly?
We work hard to make them disappear. Wall units come in low-profile and slim-line designs. Ceiling-cassette and concealed-duct options hide the unit entirely. We can also paint line-set covers to match your exterior wall — a custom touch most contractors skip.
How many zones can one outdoor unit run?
Typically 2–8 indoor heads on one outdoor condenser, depending on capacity. We size the outdoor unit to match the cooling/heating load of the indoor heads you want.
Do mini-splits qualify for rebates?
Yes — they're heat pumps, so they qualify for HEEHRA, TECH Clean California, LADWP/SCE, and the Federal 25C tax credit. Total stack typically $2K–$8K depending on income qualification.
How long do mini-splits last?
15–20 years with annual maintenance. Inverter compressors typically outlast traditional fixed-speed compressors because they don't repeatedly start and stop.
